This is a State of Vermont testimonial certificate honoring the Civil War volunteer service of Nelson Beach of Waterbury, VT. It was signed by William Wells, Adjutant Inspector General, and John Stewart, Governor, on July 4, 1871. The certificate, created from engravings by American Bank Note Company features portraits of Abraham Lincoln and two officers, scenes from the battles, news from home and soldier's return vignettes, as well as the State of Vermont seal. |
