This is an envelope measured to be about 3.5" x 6.5". On the outside of the envelope in the upper left hand corner it says "Return in 5 days to High Rock Spring Co., Saratoga, Springs, N.Y. The envelope is a bit tattered all the way around the outside edges. Alone with the opening at the top to get the letter out of the envelope the left side of the envelope is also open. Inside the envelope is a one page letter from Franklin S. Henry, witnessed by Margaret Spencer dated June 19, 1893 The letterhead consist of a picture of a medal on the upper left hand corner. Under the medal it says Gold Medal Awarded St. Louis 1904 and just to the top right of it,it says "Office of". In the upper right hand corner there is a picture of Indians and on the upper left hand corner of this picture it says "Telephone 207-2". Between these two pictures it says "HighRock Spring Co., under that The Oldest Spring in Saratoga, under that Discovered A.D. 1767. Then there is a stamp "Saratoga Sprigs, N.Y., and a line to write in the date, which on this was June 19, 1893. |
