Description |
This is a painting of the Parker family home by Nancy Spinelli, located at 51 N. Main Street, Waterbury VT. The house in the painting was an early home in the Village likely built 1815 to 1820 and the lot its built on was owned by Waterbury’s first settler’s Son Steven Marsh. In the time period of the painting, it was owned by Charles Parker, a partner in the Perking Parker Funeral Home. Charles traveled by horse and carriage and is painted here doing so. The house was later owned by Craig "Rusty" Parker a long time WDEV news caster and Chairman of the Selectboard. Ultimately the Parker family home became the Municipal Offices of Waterbury until the damage done to it in the 2011 flood. The building was torn down in 2018 and the space is now used as a parking lot for the public. The painting hangs in the joint History Center and Municipal Office meeting space at 28 N. Main St. in Waterbury, VT. |
